Trip Leaders: Noel & Jean.
We met at the Rock Inne Karragullen, everyone was nice and early, had a brief run down of the days events then headed off. After a short run up the bitumen we turned into some lush green bush with plenty of wild flowers on the way to the first stop at Mt Dale, what a brilliant location overlooking the valley as far as Perth and Kwinana. We had morning tea and Kath brought out some beautiful home baked cakes which were yummy. Brian spotted a beautiful Robin Redbreast he just sat there on top of a shrub showing off.
From Mt Dale the track narrowed and we passed through a section of bush where the new growth was very thick. We had a couple of unscheduled stops to have a look at the wildflowers; at one spot the flowers from the black boys were quite spectacular. We then continued on to Jarrahdale for toilet stop.
Lunch stop was at a little clearing near at wooden bridge which ran over a little stream with not much water in it. I believe the odd unwelcome tick was picked up
Continued on to an old school site in Serpentine which again had good views overlooking the valley it was across the road from the Bodhinyana Monastery.
The bush was beautiful with lots of wildflowers purple pinks and reds and lovely shrubs which were also in full flower.
After lunch we passed through an area where there had been a bush fire lots of big trees down but lots of new growth interesting to see how the bush regenerates. Plenty of firewood to be had, it looks like all the dead and burnt wood had been brought to the edge of the track to be cleared away.
Last stop was at Whitakers Mill which is no longer an accessible track except for bicycles which use the Munda Biddi track
A great day was had by all thanks to Noel and Jean for organizing it.
